Battle in Bloom

The 2009 awards presentation for this annual competition, organised by the Town Council. There were awards in 18 different categories as follows: -

§Most Improved Allotments: Christine Gillard
§Spooner/Leicester Plate for Best Floral Display (bank or building society): NatWest Bank
Rosaline Cup for Best Year Round Display: Alan Hunting associates
§Gough Cup for Best Hanging Baskets: Mary Scott (Raggs Boutique)
§1066 Cup Best Floral Display (non-catering): Senlac veterinary Centre
§Observer Plaque - Best Floral Display (public house): Kings Head Public House
§Thorpe Trophy - Best Floral Display (restaurant): Pilgrims Rest Restaurant
§Chamber of Commerce Cup - Community Prize: Senlac Gardens
§Burstow & Hewitt Trophy for Best Front Garden in Lower Lake: Cecil Bedwell
§Civic Association Shield - Best Container Garden: Dennis & Wendy Campbell
§Marjorie Spratt Cup for Best Front Garden: Dr Charles Rice-Oxley
Floral and Horticultural Cup for Best Hidden Garden: Wendy Mansfield
§Battle Flower Cup: Beryl Carson
§Best Scarecrow: Christine Gillard

The awards ceremony was hosted by the mayor, supported by representatives from Beautiful Battle, the Chamber of Commerce, Battle Flower Club and the Battle Floral & Horticultural Society. Below are some photographs of the event.
